Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design for Space and Defense hardware projects, from concept through to production.
Collaborate closely with electrical designers and software engineers to create integrated, holistic designs.
Work with PCB layout experts to optimize board-level designs and ensure effective connector/interconnect system choices.
Report on program status weekly to management and during release manager meetings, ensuring transparency and alignment.
Interface with supply chain representatives to coordinate material sourcing, assembly, and testing for prototypes.
Compile evidence of hardware design maturity for key project milestones (P7 and P8), ensuring quality standards are met.
Champion the transition of designs from prototype to production, ensuring all necessary documentation and compliance are in place.
Mentor junior mechanical engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
Requirements
US Citizen or Permanent Resident is required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Master's degree preferred.
At least 3 years' experience in hardware mechanical design taking products to production.
Ability to use a wide variety of mechanical design tools to facilitate physical design, thermal performance, environmental testing in conformance with specifications.
Customer and partner/vendor relationship management experience.
