About the role

  • Network Engineer supporting infrastructure modernization for the Air Force. Engaging in site surveys, design, and installation of network systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of network architectures, topology diagrams, and data flow artifacts (Visio) for wired, wireless, and mobile broadband solutions, focusing on high availability and performance
  • Support site surveys and Engineering team in the design of modernized network architecture ​
  • Implement, and document secure network architectures, including STIG checklists, port/protocol/service documentation, and Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) in compliance with DAF and DoD RMF standards
  • Support the deployment of network management tools (SNMP, SYSLOG, orchestration) and coordinate with local Communication Squadrons
  • Perform, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues. Provide Tier 3 support to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams
  • Ensure that all installations meet industry safety standards and operational cleanliness, restoring sites to original or better condition

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related work experience, or HS diploma/associates degree with 7+ years of DoD experience supporting large, complex networks
  • Direct experience managing Air Force Base Area Network
  • DoD 8140 IAT II Baseline Certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or CCNA-SEC); CCNP or CCDP or equivalent
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
