About the role

  • Deputy Director of Telecommunications at the Florida Department of Management Services. Overseeing communications technologies and emergency telecommunications support in Florida.

Responsibilities

  • The Deputy Director reports directly to the Director of Telecommunications.
  • Provides guidance and support to the Division of Telecommunications’ (DivTel) leadership team.
  • Oversight of all communications technologies on the SUNCOM statewide backbone.
  • Oversight of the state’s emergency telecommunications support to law enforcement and emergency responders.
  • Management of the Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) and oversight of Enhanced-911 services and associated systems.
  • Assists the Director with managing the daily operational activities of DivTel.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with public and private entities to maximize the use of resources and implement the best telecommunications technology for the State of Florida.

Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in business, finance, public administration, or related field.
  • Progressively responsible experience in finance, business management, public administration, or budget administration.
  • Five years of professional personnel supervision and management experience.
  • Project management and/or large contract management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
