About the role

  • Sales and Event Manager booking and managing venue rentals at Minnesota Discovery Center. Ensuring customer satisfaction through event coordination and community partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for booking and managing venue rentals and events to achieve customer and visitor satisfaction.
  • Work with community partners to coordinate and monitor event outcomes.
  • Facilitate sales of venue rentals to current and potential clients.
  • Deliver high quality service for weddings and other events
  • Collaborate with Food Services, Building and Grounds and Visitor Services for successful event planning in a team environment with a customer service focus.
  • Promote community partnerships.
  • Participate in internal and external planning committee meetings.
  • Support the mission of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school, or equivalent, education required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in event coordination or related field
  • 3+ years in sales, marketing, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to create, prioritize and execute appropriate event action plans.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, and clear.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
