About the role

  • Category Manager for Medtronic's electronics division overseeing supply management and supplier negotiations. Drive performance improvements between suppliers and the organization across multiple categories.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate on behalf of the supply management function with business units and operational partners
  • Negotiate contracts that provide year-over-year benefits in performance
  • Identify and develop business cases for a healthy year-over-year cost reduction pipeline with suppliers
  • Perform market analysis in identifying the best cost country sourcing
  • Provide guidance to technical sourcing and engineering with supplier innovations
  • Proactively develop forward buy agreements where appropriate
  • Define and manage winning category strategies and approaches with suppliers
  • Manage supplier relationships and drive performance improvements
  • Lead regular business reviews with suppliers
  • Analyze received quotations, select or recommend new suppliers
  • Rationalize existing supplier base through stratification, market analysis, supplier development, and supplier consolidation
  • Support new and ongoing supplier quality audit activities
  • Conduct supply chain risk reviews
  • Identify and utilize metrics, tools, business intelligence, and processes to optimize sourcing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Highly skilled in developing and executing negotiation strategies
  • Understanding of electronic component commodity market trends and manufacturing process technologies
  • Skilled in developing category strategies, contract reviews, lean manufacturing, business case development, BCR sourcing experience, and product/process transfer/change requirements in a regulatory environment
  • Experience using lean methodology processes in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Good organization, project management, and follow-through skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft, Excel, Analytics, and SAP experience preferred
  • Ability to travel to vendor locations is required - domestic and international
