About the role

  • Financial Analyst providing financial support for budgeting and reporting at Maamwesying, a leader in First Nation health. Collaborating with program directors and financial teams to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Providing financial support to program directors, particularly in budgeting, funder proposals, financial reporting and variance analysis
  • Funding agreement management and expenditure monitoring
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial data and analysis to support operational decisions and compliance with funder requirements
  • Work collaboratively with a range of individuals at all levels
  • Prepare spreadsheets and analysis that is useful for both operations and reporting obligations
  • Collaborate with other financial staff at Maamwesying and Mamaweswen, the North Shore Tribal Council

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance or a related discipline
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation or Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) certification would be considered an asset
  • Committed to pursue CAFM certification will be considered an asset
  • Experience in not-for-profit or Indigenous organization financial management is an asset
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills necessary with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Sage or similar accounting systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated competence in managing conflict
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
  • Membership in a First Nation located in Canada will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of First Nations and Indigenous community practices, culture, and financial management considered an asset
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle
  • A clear criminal reference check in a condition of employment
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
