About the role
- Country Controller overseeing financial governance of LyondellBasell's German operations. Responsible for statutory accounting, IFRS reporting, and audit management across the legal entity.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the financial governance of the German legal entity
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of statutory financial statements under German GAAP (HGB)
- Manage monthly and annual close activities for the German legal entity
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors
- Oversee local tax compliance in coordination with Group Tax and external advisors
- Own the internal control framework for the German entity
- Coordinate statutory audits and ensure timely completion
- Present legal entity performance and statutory matters to local directors, works councils, and site management.
Requirements
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- MBA preferred
- Professional Accountancy Qualification (RA/CPA/Chartered Accountant) required
- 7+ years of experience in finance/accounting within complex or multinational environments
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP (HGB)
- Proven experience preparing statutory accounts in Germany
- Experience with audits, internal controls, and legal entity governance
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Extensive experience with SAP R/3
- OneStream knowledge is a plus
- Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
