People Operations Manager running and improving employee lifecycle processes at a fintech. Focused on onboarding, payroll, data handling, and compliance in a GDPR-first environment.
Responsibilities
Your mission is to run and continuously improve lemon.markets’ People Operations backbone, so the employee lifecycle is smooth, reliable, and scalable as we grow.
You ensure onboarding, changes, and offboarding are executed end-to-end with high quality, clear communication, and audit-ready documentation in a regulated environment.
You are the owner of our People Operations workflows and data in Personio, with a strong GDPR-first mindset.
You will spend most of your time keeping day-to-day People Operations running smoothly and improving the engine through automation, standardisation, and documentation.
You will use dedicated capacity to drive project work based on business needs and operational insights you identify through daily operations.
You sit in the People team and partner closely with Talent, Finance, and Office, reporting into the People Business Partner.
Requirements
You have 2–5 years of People Operations experience in a fast-moving startup or scale-up and have owned employee lifecycle processes hands-on, not just coordinated them.
You are fluent in German (C1) and comfortable working in English, as you’ll collaborate in both languages day-to-day.
You have hands-on experience working with German labour law in a People Operations context, and you know when to involve the right internal or external stakeholders.
You are confident administering a People system (ideally Personio) and can improve workflows, templates, permissions, data quality, and reporting to reduce manual effort and errors using automation and AI.
You work with close attention to detail and confidentiality, and you keep People data, access rights, and documentation clean and traceable in a regulated environment.
You combine high ownership with sound judgement: you move work forward without waiting for perfect instructions, and you know when to pause, clarify, or escalate in sensitive cases.
You communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and you naturally create clarity through Confluence-style documentation, checklists, and transparent status updates in a Slack-first setup.
You are comfortable balancing steady operational volume with project work, switching between “run the day-to-day” and “improve the machine” while keeping quality high.
Benefits
🚀 Compensation package: We offer you a competitive salary, based on your experience and the value-add you bring to lemon.markets.
🕑 Flexible working hours: We trust people to choose when they work best and avoid a rigid 9 to 5 mindset. You decide on the rhythm that helps you do your best work, with only shared core hours from 12:00 to 16:00 to support collaboration.
🏢 Hybrid work setup: You can work from anywhere in Germany within a hybrid model. At the same time, in-person collaboration is a key part of our culture. That being said, individual contributer lemoneers work 4 days or more per month on-site in our Berlin office, spending quality time together with the team at events, onsites/offsites or over team dinners.
📈 Grow with us: We take your personal development seriously! You’ll get regular mentorship and stretch opportunities, a clear career development framework with frequent feedback conversations as well as an annual learning budget.
🌱 People & culture: You’ll feel our culture in the small things, like polaroids from our lemoneers’ first day, Friday food market strolls at Maybachufer, and our monthly new-joiner breakfast. But also in the bigger things: celebrating the onboarding of new partners, growing our teams, and owning a strong discussion culture.
💛 Perks & benefits: We choose benefits that add actual value. We sponsor a Deutschlandticket for employees on unlimited contracts, plus 50% off on Beatvest - our partner for financial education and investing.
