About the role

  • Lead safety strategy for one of Australia's busiest rail networks. Driving transformational change in safety standards and overseeing compliance while managing a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Drive safety standards, systems, and quality management for one of Australia's busiest rail networks
  • Lead the development of network rules, safety investigations, and quality frameworks that protect passengers, staff, and operations across Sydney Trains
  • Direct rigorous safety investigations to mitigate high-impact incidents and prevent system failures
  • Drive adoption of contemporary safety practices and design principles across the organisation
  • Oversee strategic development and implementation of Sydney Trains safety systems and applications
  • Lead quality management framework ensuring ISO certification and compliance
  • Provide expert input into SRA Strategic Plan and Annual Plan
  • Lead and develop high-performing team delivering safety, systems, and quality outcomes
  • Create culture where safety is genuinely "at the heart" of operations

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading risk-based safety approaches in complex, highly regulated industrial environments
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent senior-level industry experience in relevant context
  • Proven track record managing implementation and review of safety regulations, policies, practices, and procedures
  • Experience with statutory regulators, investigation authorities, and certification bodies
