About the role
- Part-Time Security Officer safeguarding personnel and property at Kaman Air Vehicles. Providing access control, monitoring systems, and responding to incidents in Bloomfield, CT.
Responsibilities
- Provide physical security protection to safeguard personnel and property against fire, theft, vandalism, unauthorized entry and other hazards.
- Maintain access control and check for credentials prior to entry.
- Greet visitors and check identification prior to signing them in.
- Direct visitors / contractors to appropriate locations and ensure they are escorted.
- Issue and retrieve visitor/contractor badges.
- Conduct random vehicles and package inspections, as directed.
- Monitor alarm and camera systems in guard communication center.
- Answer company telephones as required.
- Maintain detailed daily log to record activities.
- Dispatch other personnel to emergency situations or requests for service as required.
- Coordinate response to emergency situations with internal and external response groups.
- Conduct patrols of entire campus and off-site buildings as required.
- Respond to alarms, medical emergencies, fire, or other requests for service as required.
- Investigate reported incidents and prepare reports.
- Respond within guidelines and take immediate action in emergency situations.
Requirements
- Prior security/law enforcement/military experience preferred, 1-3 years.
- Excellent interpersonal, organization, communication, verbal, written and customer interaction skills.
- Ability to work overtime and long hours with rotational days off.
- High level of discretion; position involves routine exposure to proprietary information.
- Good organizational skills and attention to details is required.
- Ability to handle a fast paced work environment, meet strict timelines and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to survey various situations and take immediate action that complies with established policies and procedures when dealing with emergency situations.
- Solid knowledge of security alarm and camera systems (desirable).
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
