About the role

  • Research Manager overseeing the implementation of humanitarian research cycles for IMPACT. Leading a team in Myanmar, coordinating with external partners and ensuring program excellence.

Responsibilities

  • The Research Manager oversees the implementation of research cycles under the Humanitarian Prioritisation and Planning Unit.
  • Represent IMPACT with donors and senior external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external partners and provide analytical oversight of research products.
  • Lead the team to achieve program excellence and ensure the highest level of impact and accountability.
  • Ensure all assessments and analysis are planned and implemented in a structured and coherent manner.
  • Oversee research cycles in their research unit, including reviewing TORs, methodology notes, and tools.
  • Ensure writing and production of timely, accurate reports and assessments.
  • Manage grants in collaboration with the Country Representative.
  • Co-chair the Needs Monitoring and Analysis Working Group and represent IMPACT with partners and the humanitarian community in Myanmar.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on all data collected and take measures to prevent unauthorized sharing of information.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of relevant working experience in a humanitarian setting, such as program management, research, evaluation, or assessment.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative research design, data collection, and data analysis experience required.
  • Good understanding of the aid system and the research community.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian coordination forums preferred.
  • Experience with MSNAs, RNAs, Food Security and Nutrition assessments would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a management role of at least three people in a UN/INGO at field level.
  • Proven track record in successful management of both international and national teams in humanitarian contexts.
  • Experience engaging with external stakeholders, including donors, UN, and NGOs.
  • Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility and work independently.
  • Excellent academic qualifications, including a master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Proven knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; skills in Adobe Indesign, and data analysis software (e.g. R) are desirable.
  • Fluency in English required, competency in Burmese or other Myanmar languages is an asset.
