About the role

  • Commodity Manager leading global procurement of mechanical parts at Industrial Scientific. Responsible for cost reduction, supplier management, and commodity strategy development in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-efficiency, high-quality domestic and/or global sources of supply for materials and services.
  • Manage the supply base through supplier scorecards and quarterly business reviews.
  • Manage commodity spend using procurement processes & systems. Focus on price, quality, delivery, innovation, supply chain efficiency & working capital.
  • Develop and present commodity strategies, detailed reports, analysis, and sourcing or business-related presentations to staff and management.
  • Negotiate, implement, and manage contracts.
  • Able to project manage a cross-functional team, including suppliers, to successfully implement a commodity strategy, cost savings initiative, or transition a source of supply.
  • Use data analytics, industry benchmarking, and strategic sourcing methodologies to build a robust pipeline of PPV/VAVE cost savings initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Fortive Commodity Managers to ensure best practices and greatest leverage in procurement, low-cost region sourcing, supplier assessment & management.
  • Manage outsourcing and dual-sourcing initiatives within the commodity space.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% to find, develop, and manage domestic and/or global sources of supply.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in Procurement and Strategic Sourcing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a global organization, building and optimizing programs across diverse teams and culture.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing in a global operation and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Solid business judgment, including the ability to anticipate the impact of decisions.
  • Highly analytical, with a clear, logical understanding of problem-solving including Root Cause, Corrective Action, Countermeasures, Problem Solving, and Action Plan development and execution.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to develop financial business cases for strategic decision making.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict management abilities.
  • Ability to leverage metrics and other tools to drive supplier performance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
