About the role

  • Climate Manager driving climate and biodiversity initiatives at FSC, requiring expertise in project management and strategic advice. Role includes collaboration, reporting, and external representation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams and consultants to ensure structure, alignment and consistent communication of climate efforts within FSC and enhance synergies between workstreams.
  • Support the implementation of the FSC Climate and Biodiversity Strategic Framework.
  • Support the translation of strategic objectives into operational plans, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Provide input and conduct content reviews to ensure quality of deliverables.
  • Contribute to conceptual coherence and alignment across climate-related initiatives in the organization by developing concept notes, technical briefs, and internal guidance related to climate and biodiversity priorities.
  • Provide strategic and technical advice to internal workstreams, teams, and units on climate topics, and support cross-cutting initiatives.
  • Contribute to internal and external reporting on progress, outcomes, and impacts of climate and biodiversity initiatives.
  • Support the preparation of briefing materials, presentations, and communication products.
  • Support the integration of the Strategic Framework in the FSC Global Strategy.
  • Represent FSC externally in meetings and events.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in climate science, environmental management, forestry, sustainability, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change.
  • Familiar with international climate policies, standards (e.g., UNFCCC), and best practices, and with climate-related impacts, risks, and opportunities across global supply chains, including upstream and downstream emissions, and climate financial mechanisms.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating multi-stakeholder projects and cross-functional teams, preferably in an international context.
  • Additional training in ESG, sustainability reporting, climate finance, and/or project management is a plus.
  • Familiar with FSC certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to guide content discussions and prepare clear and compelling communication materials and reports.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written). Spanish or French is a plus.
  • Good skills in the use of standard software packages (MS Office).
