About the role
- Senior Automation Engineer in Central Test team focusing on automation testing using Playwright and Typescript. Collaborating across teams, mentoring members, and ensuring best coding practices in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Joining the Central Test team, working with Automation Lead, Test Leads and Managers within other projects
- Identifying appropriate areas for effective use or re-use of test automation
- Collaborating across teams
- Tracking project progress against the plan and reporting variances
- Guiding and mentoring less experienced team members
- Managing issues and risks that will affect the project/team
- Advocate for best practices, carry out code reviews, ensuring standards are adhered to, and the highest quality code is submitted to the overall infrastructure
- Participating in the project governance process, including attendance at relevant steering group and stakeholder meetings
- Becoming familiar with the systems under test and becoming expert in their functionality
- Coding and maintain high quality automated tests
- Identifying and implementing continuous service improvements
- Investigate the root reasons for failing test cases
- Raise issues found and defects to developers and other teams
- Challenge convention testing approaches to ensure effective use of automation
- Be reliable and capable of autonomous work
- Agree and understand short term priorities while progressing long term objectives
- Produce accessible and appropriate documentation
Requirements
- Experience of using Automation Testing tools: Playwright Framework, Typescript, Git Version Control, Azure DevOps
- Playwright experience, preferably with Typescript implementation
- Understanding of API automated tests
- Understanding of the importance of documentation in software development
- Ability to coach and develop team members
- Curiosity and tenacity, to investigate and understand complex technical issues
- Experience interfacing with business owners and users, application development and technical colleagues, testers and all levels of management
