About the role

  • Content Lead creating branding strategies and producing content for a genetic testing company. Must collaborate with agencies and manage social media content while working hybrid.

Responsibilities

  • We're looking for a Content Lead who knows what the brand should say, how it should look, and exactly what to tell the agency when it doesn't.
  • You'll report directly into the Senior Lifecycle Marketing Lead, leading creative strategy and production alongside a small, high-autonomy department building a genetic testing brand that earns attention across organic, paid, and community channels.
  • This is a contract role, required 3 days per week.
  • **About Eugene**
  • Eugene is building a future where everyone can sequence their DNA once and receive personalised guidance for life, transforming genomics from a one-time diagnostic tool into a lifelong foundation for better health.
  • Since we launched in 2018, we've supported thousands of people across Australia, built a truely accessible medical-grade genetic testing and counselling service, backed by Australian and US venture capital and strategic investors.
  • Eugene is a remote-first organisation, however we'll need you creating thumb-stopping content in our Richmond, Victoria office once per week.

Requirements

  • **1. Creative strategy and direction**
  • Lead the creative approach across organic and paid channels. Translate Eugene's positioning and personas into content that earns attention, without resorting to fear or hype. Set the direction; don't just execute it.
  • **2. Social content production**
  • Own the content calendar and produce for Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Carrier screening for couples planning a pregnancy. Preventative health for the longevity-minded. Two audiences, one consistent voice. Reels, carousels, long-form — across the mix.
  • **3. Paid content for the ad agency**
  • Brief and produce creative assets for Meta and Google performance campaigns in collaboration with our external agency. You're the strategic and creative connection between the brand and the channel — ensuring paid creative doesn't feel like paid creative.
  • **4. Community management**
  • Monitor and respond across social accounts. Engage the community — patients, clinicians, clinic partners — in a way that reflects Eugene's voice: warm, honest, and credible. Spot opportunities. Flag concerns early.
  • **5. Build the content engine**
  • Co-own and improve Eugene's AI-powered content system in Claude. Help document content guidelines, brand voice rules, and creative frameworks that let the team produce at scale without losing quality. You'll be building infrastructure, not just content.
  • **6. Stretch goal - SEO**
  • Not the primary focus of the role, but a meaningful opportunity for the right person. Eugene has a real content library and a growing blog — the gap is a scalable approach to search. Ideally you can help identify content opportunities, brief blog posts against search intent, and build the foundation for organic search as a growth channel over time.
  • **About You**
  • You have 3–6 years in content, creative, or brand — agency or in-house, health or consumer.
  • Hands-on experience across organic and paid social (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Meta, and Google display) and understand how content needs to flex across each channel.
  • You're a strong conceptual thinker who can write, direct, and produce across formats.
  • You're comfortable briefing a paid agency and holding the creative bar.
  • You have health or science literacy — you don't need a genetics degree but you care about getting it right.
  • You can work within strict clinical and compliance guardrails without losing creativity.
  • You're genuinely curious about AI tools and how they change the way content gets made.
  • You have no ego about working lean — this is a small team with outsized impact.

Benefits

  • We offer a competitive compensation package in a collaborative and inclusive work environment. We value diverse perspectives and the ability to work cross-functionally. This role provides:
  • The opportunity to work at a company committed to doing well by doing good.
  • Challenging, meaningful problem solving that positively impacts our customers' lives.
  • A flexible, hybrid work environment.
  • **Hiring process**
  • Phone screen
  • Skills assessment
  • Portfolio review
  • Culture interview
  • **Our hiring process is intentionally designed to be simple, effective, and respectful of everyone's time.
