About the role

  • Regional Director responsible for structuring real estate and construction financing at Equitable Bank. Join a growing FinTech challenging traditional banking services in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and structure real estate and construction financing opportunities (traditional and insured) across all asset classes for presentation to senior management.
  • Ensure transactions are executed in accordance with the Bank’s lending guidelines, return-on-equity requirements and established procedures.
  • Communicate daily with Mortgage Structuring, Credit and Finance teams, senior management, service staff and other Bank personnel, as well as external contacts (partners, brokers, clients, appraisers, etc.).
  • Engage with and meet external contacts to source new business and attend industry events to promote Equitable Bank as a real estate and construction lender.
  • Coordinate marketing initiatives and pursue new lending opportunities in collaboration with the Mortgage Structuring team.
  • Manage transaction pipeline effectively to meet underwriting team deadlines.
  • Travel for inspections, presentations, real estate summits and business dinners.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in business administration or finance. Specialization in real estate—such as urban land economics or property valuation—is an asset.
  • Credit skills with at least ten years of experience in real estate and construction financing in a senior account management role.
  • Experience with CMHC and institutional construction lending.
  • Strong knowledge of secured lending and the factors that influence the commercial mortgage market, both regulatory and macroeconomic.
  • Network of contacts with various real estate industry stakeholders in the Outaouais region is an asset.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and financial ratio analysis.
  • Working knowledge of anti-money laundering and counter‑terrorist financing regulations and of legal/commercial documentation (direct or partner-originated transactions) related to commercial real estate across multiple regions of Canada.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Good time management.
  • Strong negotiation, sales and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to respond in a clear, concise and professional manner. Knowledge of business development methods.
  • Strong customer service orientation, industry knowledge and team spirit.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
