About the role

  • Senior UX/UI Designer at Emerson focusing on design projects from discovery to delivery for eCommerce. Utilizing Figma for wireframes and prototypes while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Take initiative on problem scoping: Partner with product managers and stakeholders to define design opportunities—asking the right questions to understand business goals, user needs, and technical constraints.
  • Present and defend design decisions to stakeholders with varying levels of design literacy.
  • Produce low-to-mid fidelity wireframes for layout, hierarchy, and information architecture.
  • Create interactive/functional prototypes in Figma (click-through flows, branching paths, validations) whenever needed to clarify behavior.
  • Define UI states and edge cases clearly in design: hover/focus/active, disabled, loading, empty states, errors, permissions-based visibility, and role-based behavior.
  • Document interaction and component behavior inside Figma using annotations, patterns, and reusable components—minimizing dependence on PPTs and long written ACs for visuals.
  • Design complex workflows: Simplify complex problems and design intuitive interfaces while maintaining and owning design systems that ensure consistency across the platform.
  • Consider multi-step workflows, edge cases, permissions, integrations, scalability, and consistency across the product.
  • Dive deep into understanding privacy workflows, regulations, and user pain points to identify high-impact design opportunities.
  • Deliver end-to-end: From low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes, and partner with engineering on implementation details.
  • Clarify implementation details, and ensure shipped UI matches the intended behavior and interaction model.
  • Experiment with AI-powered features and explore how AI can enhance privacy operations.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of UI/UX/Product Design experience for web and mobile applications (preferably eCommerce domain)
  • Proven track record of working independently: Led design projects end-to-end, from problem definition to shipped solutions, with minimal oversight.
  • Strong Figma proficiency: Wireframing, interaction design, auto-layout, components/variants, libraries
  • Prototyping complex flows to clarify behavior and reduce ambiguity
  • Ability to structure files for scalable handoff (versioning, naming conventions, reusable patterns)
  • Strong collaboration skills: Comfortable partnering with cross-functional teams, asking tough questions, and building consensus on the right direction
  • Systems thinking: Able to design complex, multi-step workflows and think about edge cases, permissions, integrations, and scalability.
  • Excellent communication: Clear articulation of design rationale, trade-offs, and business impact.
  • Strong portfolio demonstration:
  • Complex workflow design (preferably multi-user, multi-role systems).
  • Problem-solving process (how you identified the problem and arrived at your solution).
  • B2B/enterprise product experience.
  • Examples of shipped work and measurable impact.
  • Functional prototypes and clear definition of states/edge cases (not just static screens).
  • Front-end development (design-to-dev skills):
  • Component-based UI thinking, responsive designs for different screen sizes, and feasibility considerations
  • Ability to define behavior, states, and constraints that engineers can implement without guesswork
  • Familiarity with design systems creation/maintenance at scale and contributing the Emerson's design system
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS/JS or experience collaborating closely with FE teams (not required, but helpful).
  • Experience with usability testing, analytics-informed design.
  • React, Next Js, Storybook and other frameworks knowledge is a meaningful plus.

Benefits

  • We recognize the importance of employee wellbeing. We prioritize providing competitive benefits plans, a variety of medical insurance plans, Employee Assistance Program, employee resource groups, recognition, and much more.
  • Our culture offers flexible time off plans, including paid parental leave (maternal and paternal), vacation and holiday leave.
