About the role

  • Proposes rates for prospective business utilizing a combination of incumbent experience, demographic/census data and manual rates.
  • Own all Underwriting pieces of the RFP including rate/fee development, rate/fee templates and financial questions.
  • Drive any escalation required with limits of authority review.
  • Perform post-sale reviews and management reporting as applicable.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure accuracy and consistency of overall account reporting.
  • Prepare any benefit change increments and decrements.
  • Assist in establishing rating and administrative procedures.
  • Participate in major multi-functional teams as underwriting representative as applicable.
  • Assist in the technical development of underwriting associates, including mentoring, on the job training, and peer review.
  • Demonstrate leadership by recommending and guiding efficiency improvements, process changes or any other opportunities to improve the Underwriters workflow/toolset.
  • Negotiate, collaborate, partner with internal Sales leads/management and engage in Broker discussions/meetings as applicable.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS in a related field
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience
  • CPCU, CLU, LOMA, HIAA, PAHM or other insurance related courses preferred
