About the role

  • Line of Business Underwriting Director providing strategic leadership for Workers Compensation and Auto lines at Amerisure. Responsible for executing underwriting strategies and analyzing portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership for the Workers Compensation and Auto lines of business
  • Shapes and executes underwriting strategies informed by market trends, industry insights, data analysis, and underwriting performance
  • Serves as a key driver of portfolio strategy, underwriting discipline, and long-term business success
  • Leads the strategic direction for assigned lines of business
  • Develops analytic insights, leading indicators, and profitability drivers through internal and external research
  • Monitors and analyzes portfolio performance, identifying emerging trends
  • Recommends strategic or executional adjustments based on data-driven insights
  • Identifies line of business needs and manages underwriting controls
  • Evaluates risks outside of field authority in accordance with corporate guidelines
  • Collaborates with field underwriting, actuarial, financial planning and analytics to establish pricing program recommendations
  • Leads cross-departmental projects related to process improvement
  • Provides technical expertise for designated lines of business to support underwriting training and product development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work-related experience
  • 10 years commercial underwriting insurance experience with expertise in construction or manufacturing exposures
  • Experience across multiple core lines of business preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and evolving environment
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated successful capability to resolve conflict over sensitive or complex issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively build relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Experience influencing and collaborating at the executive level.
