About the role
- Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant supporting underwriters in processing insurance applications for businesses. Gathers documentation, enters data, and prepares quotes while ensuring compliance with guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Supports underwriters in evaluating and processing insurance applications for businesses
- Gathers and reviews documentation, enters data into underwriting systems
- Prepares quotes and communicates with agents and brokers
- Ensures that all submissions are complete and accurate
- Helps streamline the underwriting process and maintain compliance with company guidelines
- Assists with training team members and new employees on tasks
- Monitors emails and assigned work for proper handling
- Gathers necessary data for assigned transactions
- Processes automated and manual transactions for assigned lines of business
- Initiates and follows-up on correspondence with agents
- Works closely with the CSS to resolve errors
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in a clerical support position, preferably in the property/casualty insurance industry
- Prior commercial lines rating experience,
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Good PC skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Good proof-reading skills
