Responsibilities
Lead the launch and ramp-up of logistics services in Portugal.
Implement processes and best practices already tested in Spain and the UK, adapting them to Portuguese realities and legislation.
Ensure drivers and suppliers comply with internal policies, safety standards and SLAs agreed with customers.
Work closely with clients' operational teams to plan and execute ramp-ups, new launches and peak periods.
Serve as one of the main operational points of contact for clients in Portugal, ensuring rapid issue resolution.
Participate in performance meetings with clients, presenting KPI results and action plans.
Be responsible for the country’s operational KPIs (punctuality, delivery success rate, utilization, quality, safety, etc.).
Track performance daily/weekly using Excel and internal dashboards, identifying deviations and corrective actions.
Support the Iberia Region Director in managing Portugal’s P&L: monitor revenue, main cost lines (drivers, fleet, facilities, operational overheads) and propose cost-optimization initiatives.
Ensure compliance with Portuguese labour law, social security, occupational health and safety, and other regulations applicable to the sector.
Work together with HR, Finance and Legal to ensure contracts and operating models are legally compliant.
Continuously improve processes, tools and SOPs to increase productivity and service quality.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years' experience in operations, logistics, transportation or last-mile delivery, ideally in Portugal.
Experience managing field teams (drivers, couriers or similar roles) and working with external suppliers.
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, filters, lookups, basic formulas) and comfortable working with operational data and reports.
Good understanding of KPI management and the impact of operational decisions on the P&L.
Solid knowledge of or familiarity with Portuguese labour law and the local regulatory framework (especially related to transport/drivers).
Fluent in Portuguese and good command of English (spoken and written) – able to work with international teams and documentation.
Availability and willingness to travel frequently between Lisbon and Porto (several times per month).
Valid driving licence and availability to visit depots, client facilities and suppliers when required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence, train and challenge when necessary.
Hands-on, proactive profile: comfortable both on the ground (with drivers and suppliers) and working with data and reports.
