About the role

  • Occupational Health Business Partner providing proactive occupational health support across UK manufacturing sites. Focusing on health risk management, compliance, and employee wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert, proactive occupational health support across the business enabling safe, productive work by identifying health risks early, advising on controls and adjustments, and maintaining robust clinical governance and data integrity
  • Management and delivery of annual risk based health surveillance programs aligned to COSHH and HSE standards
  • Conduct and interpret assessments (e.g., audiometry, spirometry, vision, skin checks), arrange HAVS Tier 3 assessments, night worker health assessments, and DSE reviews for relevant roles
  • Ensure OH practice meets UK legislation and standards
  • Develop and keep current OH policies, procedures and protocols; contribute to risk assessments and H&S committees
  • Manage management referrals; assess fitness for work, provide evidence-based advice, and agree practical adjustments and phased returns
  • Conduct pre-employment assessments for fitness for work
  • Work with any external agencies supplying labour to the company to ensure compliance with checks
  • Liaise with employees, managers and People team to support early, sustainable return-to-work
  • Provide clear, objective OH reports and guidance on capability, redeployment and reasonable adjustments
  • Monitor case progress and outcomes; coach line managers on effective attendance management and early intervention
  • Deliver targeted wellbeing initiatives that address identified occupational risks
  • Build strong on-site presence and trust; upskill managers and safety reps in health risk awareness and good practice

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration; specialist OH qualification (Diploma/Degree or SCPHN(OH)) preferred
  • Up-to-date certifications in audiometry, spirometry and vision screening; HAVS Tier 3 training; RPE face-fit tester certification desirable
  • Evidence of CPD in occupational health, case management and relevant legislation; SEQOHS awareness advantageous
  • Proven occupational health experience in a manufacturing or comparable industrial environment
  • Strong clinical judgement, confidentiality and professional integrity
  • Data literate with OH systems (e.g., eOPAS/Cohort) and MS Office; comfortable with KPIs and trend analysis
  • Collaborative, pragmatic and solutions-focused; able to influence and coach managers
  • Well organised, able to prioritise in a fast-paced, production-led environment
