About the role

• Senior IT Business Systems Analyst delivering technology solutions for GWL Realty Advisors at Canada Life. Analyzing ETL integrations and supporting technology projects with a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a high degree of accountability developing project deliverables, with a focus on definition of project scope, estimates for systems analysis tasks, recommendations for project plan timeframes, identification of stakeholders, approach, methodology, communication plan, and schedules for project tasks.
• Actively manages analysis tasks, reports on status, and engages project leadership to present recommendations as required.
• Gain a clear understanding of business problems/opportunities to define and document detailed business requirements and associated detailed system specifications for complex initiatives.
• Engages other project team members to identify and document alternatives and recommend solutions.
• Identifies, escalates and contributes to the resolution of project issues and mitigation of project risks.
• Supports Software Developers during software development and testing.
• Works closely with Quality Assurance team members to develop test strategies and plans, ensures adequate testing by contributing to test plans, identification of test situations and test cases, execution of test plan and verification that test results meet business expectations.
• Supports project implementation by execution of assigned project implementation activities including verification that system is performing as expected, contributing to the analysis and resolution of issues, and providing support during project Warranty Period.
• Contributes to the development and enhancement of GWLRA/Investment Technology Systems Analysis team by knowledge sharing and contributing to best practices, tools and techniques.
• Supports teams involved in operational support of systems.

Requirements

• Post-secondary degree in related discipline (Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, etc)
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
• Strong experience with complex data mapping and complex transformation logic for ETL integration processing among several integrated systems
• Strong experience with requirements gathering and documentation of functional and non-functional requirements and complex data integration (ETL) specifications
• Experience with ETL and Scheduling tools
• Strong experience with hierarchical or tree file types and data structures used in ETL integration
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Strong customer service focus and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships and provide leadership
• Experience understanding & documenting complex business environments, operations, processes and practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills include the ability to communicate/facilitate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Proficient in creating presentations and comfortable presenting to senior management & cross functional teams
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment or independently as assignment requires
• Experience working with technology project methodologies, processes, and practices
• Experience working with external vendors and consultants
• Experience leading independent work packages within & outside of formal projects
• Experience collaborating & delivering work packages with other practitioners
• Experience in assessing/implementing and supporting of 3rd party solutions
