About the role

  • Master Thesis supporting development and evaluation of visual localization techniques in autonomous driving at BMW. Analyzing state-of-the-art methods and contributing research to advance map products.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and evaluation of learning-based methods for map-based visual localization in autonomous driving.
  • Help review state-of-the-art visual localization techniques and analyze the impact of diverse map components and input modalities.
  • Contribute research findings directly to the advancement of map products.
  • Drive projects with regular feedback from a mentor and receive dedicated support from the expert team.

Requirements

  • Studies in computer science, artificial intelligence, robotics, or a related technical field (Master's program).
  • Knowledge in computer vision and deep learning, familiar with modern vision transformers and scene representations.
  • High proficiency in programming and debugging with Python, PyTorch, and OpenCV.
  • Prior project experience in computer vision or autonomous driving perception algorithms is a plus.
  • Business-fluent English skills; German proficiency is a plus.
