About the role

  • IT Help Desk Technician I providing front-line support for technical issues at BKF Engineers. Collaborating on IT projects and assisting users with software and hardware issues in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Install, configure, and deploy computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
  • Assist users with application issues, and guide them in utilizing software effectively.
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment and ensure proper software licensing.
  • Document, track, and manage support requests in the help desk ticketing system.
  • Provide basic IT training to staff on new technologies.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff on the resolution of more complex issues.
  • Assist with IT projects and initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an IT support or help desk role.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
  • Familiarity with Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Availability to work in the office and assist during emergencies or after hours as needed.
  • **Physical Demands:**
  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, and operate various IT devices. Occasional lifting of equipment up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • **Work Conditions:**
  • The IT Help Desk Technician will primarily work in an office environment with frequent travel to other office locations to assist with technical support. Routine office hours are expected, with flexibility needed for after-hours support during critical incidents or system upgrades.
