Aerodynamics Engineer designing high-performance air-moving machinery for defense and aerospace applications. Leading aerodynamic design and analysis of fans, blowers, and turbomachinery components.
Responsibilities
Design high-performance air-moving machinery: Lead aerodynamic design of high-speed fans, blowers, and turbomachinery components for aerospace applications.
Run advanced aero analysis: Perform CFD and analytical modeling (compressible flow, boundary layers, loss modeling) to optimize pressure rise, efficiency, surge margin, and acoustic performance.
Develop blade and flowpath geometry: Design and refine impellers, diffusers, volutes, inlet geometries, and flow paths for performance and durability.
Correlate analysis with hardware: Support test planning, instrumentation definition, data reduction, and CFD-to-test correlation to validate performance maps.
Drive power density and efficiency: Improve performance in high-OAT, high-altitude, and harsh operating environments typical of military aircraft.
Support system integration: Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, controls, and electrical engineers to ensure aero performance aligns with system-level requirements.
Contribute to Business Development proposals and IRAD: Develop rapid concept designs, preliminary sizing analyses, and technical trade studies to support customer engagements and new program pursuits.
Interface with customers: Present technical approaches, defend analysis assumptions, and contribute to design reviews (PDR/CDR).
