About the role
- Infection Preventionist supporting infection control measures at Banner Health facilities. Engaging in surveillance and improvements for patient care across multiple sites in Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Conducts focused surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)
- Makes recommendations when problems are identified
- Interacts with physicians, nurses, department managers and other staff as a consultant
- Enters data into computer, prepares reports, conducts analytical studies and summarizes surveillance data
- Initiates epidemiological investigations for significant clusters of infections
- Assists with continuing infection control education and inservice programs
- Reviews and assists with hospital policies and procedures related to infection control
- Makes recommendations regarding construction and renovation compliance
Requirements
- Requires a current RN license with BSN preferred, OR Masters in Public Health (MPH), OR certified medical technologist, OR a bachelor's degree in healthcare related field
- 2 years clinical experience in a hospital setting or disease surveillance experience in a public health setting
- Must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire (if working in certain settings)
- 6 months to achieve the Certification of Infection Control (CIC)
- Active Basic Life Skills certification required for certain job locations
