Safety Engineer supporting the safe delivery of vital defence infrastructure at Babcock. Engaging in hazard identification, documentation, and operational safety strategies for naval facilities.
Responsibilities
Supporting the safe delivery and operation of vital defence infrastructure.
Preparing hazard identification and safety assessment documentation that meets nuclear site licence conditions, regulatory requirements and Babcock’s own internal standards.
Working closely with Senior Safety Engineers, technical specialists and project teams to ensure that all safety documentation is delivered accurately on time and aligned with operational needs.
Delivering safety documentation that aligns with established safety strategies and approved safety engineering techniques.
Identifying required remedial actions or additional technical/safety justifications and agreeing these with the Senior Safety Engineer.
Providing quality review services within your area of expertise.
Requirements
Background in nuclear or radiological safety is highly beneficial, though not essential.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and senior managers.
Competence in producing technical documentation and navigating regulatory or highly controlled engineering environments.
Proven ability to operate within structured processes and deliver high‑quality outputs to tight deadlines.
Degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or relevant experience.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
