About the role

  • Senior Quality Assurance Engineer ensuring quality assurance across complex marine environments. Supporting the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer in delivering compliance and safety in significant defence projects.

Responsibilities

  • Help ensure that some of the UK’s most important marine and defence engineering programmes are delivered safely, effectively and to the highest standards.
  • Support the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer to assess compliance across management systems, drive improvements in quality performance, and provide expert support that helps keep people, platforms and operations safe.
  • Work across multiple project areas, interact with internal and external stakeholders, and shape how quality assurance is applied across complex marine environments.
  • Support customer‑facing interactions and reviews relating to quality requirements.
  • Assist the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer in measuring and reviewing compliance with contractual, company and ISO9001 requirements.
  • Provide expertise to supply chain teams by collecting and analysing supplier quality data.
  • Conduct reactive audits, investigations and supplier surveillance visits.
  • Review quality documentation, including Project Quality Plans, procurement documentation and contract amendments.

Requirements

  • Experience managing quality assurance and quality control within an engineering sector, including supply chain.
  • Demonstrated application of problem‑solving and/or lean tools.
  • Experience supporting complex assurance requirements relating to systems requiring enhanced quality, safety or assurance.
  • Competence reviewing technical documentation and understanding engineering processes.
  • Strong communicator with an aptitude for learning new methods, techniques and principles.
  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (Engineering preferred)
  • QMS Lead Auditor Course (UKAS accredited)
  • Additional quality or audit‑related certifications - Desirable
  • The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
