About the role

  • Payroll Specialist managing full-cycle payroll for diverse clients at UHY Axon Group in Athens. Ensuring compliance and accuracy in payroll processes while providing technical advisory support.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Execution: Execute the full-cycle payroll process for a diverse client portfolio, ensuring 100% accuracy and strict adherence to statutory regulations and internal controls.
  • ERGANI Compliance: Submit required forms and declarations to ERGANI, including new hires, terminations, and employment updates, in a timely and precise manner.
  • Work Schedule Management: Manage the digital organization of working time by submitting work schedules and modifications to ERGANI, ensuring full alignment with Greek Labor Law and client-specific operational needs.
  • Financial Integration: Prepare and audit payroll-related accounting entries, ensuring seamless integration with general ledgers and maintaining rigorous alignment with accounting standards.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with the payroll team to identify bottlenecks and implement best-practice workflows that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Deliverable Management: Prepare and distribute comprehensive payroll reports, customized summaries, and digital payslips for clients and stakeholders.
  • Technical Advisory: Serve as a subject matter expert by resolving complex client inquiries regarding earnings, social security deductions, and timekeeping with clarity and professionalism.
  • Regulatory Intelligence: Proactively monitor shifts in Greek labor legislation, social security updates, and tax codes to ensure all payroll procedures remain compliant and up to date.
  • Data Integrity & Ethics: Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and data protection (GDPR), upholding professional ethics when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables are completed with high attention to detail, meeting all internal and statutory deadlines consistently.

Requirements

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in end-to-end payroll processing, ideally within a high-volume accounting firm or payroll outsourcing environment.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related Business field.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Strong working knowledge of Greek Labor Law, including familiarity with ERGANI/ERGANI II, e-EFKA regulations, and SEPENET reporting.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, formulas). Prior experience with industry-standard payroll software (specifically Epsilon Net Pylon/Extra or similar) is highly regarded.
  • Linguistic Skills: Native or near-native fluency in Greek and professional-level proficiency in English (written and verbal) for client communications.
  • Analytical Precision: A meticulous approach to data entry and audit, with the ability to spot discrepancies in complex payroll calculations.
  • Organizational Agility: Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously while adhering to strict statutory and internal deadlines.
  • Solution-Oriented Mindset: Proactive in identifying payroll issues and resourceful in navigating legislative complexities to provide client-focused solutions.
