About the role

  • HR Director ensuring compliance with labor laws and developing people strategies at AvJet in Quebec. Leading HR initiatives and managing employee relations across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all provincial and federal labour laws, regulations, and employment standards.
  • Provide strategic HR leadership to regional executives, aligning people strategies with business objectives.
  • Develop, update, and oversee HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Lead HR risk management, identify issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Lead workforce planning, organizational design, and change management initiatives.
  • Support leadership development, succession planning, and talent readiness across the region.
  • Lead union communications and collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Manage all other aspects of employee relations, including investigations, conflict resolution, and case management.
  • Use HR data and metrics to guide decision-making and identify workforce trends.
  • Promote employee engagement and retention initiatives to enhance the employee experience.
  • Translate corporate HR strategy into practical regional execution that is locally relevant.
  • Maintain strong communication between leaders and employees by addressing issues and providing guidance.
  • Collaborate with shared HR services to provide payroll, benefits, HR systems, and administration support.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the regional HR team to strengthen capability and performance.
  • Identify and mitigate occupational health and safety (OHS) risks by implementing corrective measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field
  • Combined experience as a senior HR leader with Quebec and federal labour law (or expertise in Quebec and federal labour law acquired as a senior HR leader)
  • Experience in unionized and/or operational environments preferred
  • Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written
  • Experience in the airport/aviation sector considered an asset
