About the role

  • Assistant Fire Chief of Prevention managing fire prevention initiatives for US Navy overseas. Ensuring safety standards compliance and leading a multi-national fire inspection team.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing fire prevention programs and initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with fire safety standards
  • Reducing risks to personnel and critical infrastructure
  • Leading and managing the Fire Prevention section
  • Developing, administering, and promoting fire prevention programs
  • Leading inspection programs for facilities and equipment
  • Reviewing construction designs and building plans
  • Conducting fire hazard assessments
  • Managing fire investigations
  • Supervising a multi-national team of fire inspectors
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate reports and records
  • Serving as a liaison between the fire department and external agencies

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of experience leading an F&ES fire prevention section or division in a fire department of similar size and scope to that of Diego Garcia
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as Fire Inspector III and Plans Examiner I in accordance with recognized fire prevention standards or equivalent qualifications
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
  • Valid passport.
