About the role

  • Finance Systems PMO Consultant leading finance systems transformation for sustainable development in Africa. Overseeing reporting quality, system usability, and finance effectiveness as a hands-on role.

Responsibilities

  • Define finance system requirements aligned to current operations and growth ambitions
  • Design a target-state finance systems architecture (ERP, treasury, reporting)
  • Review existing finance processes, controls, and reporting flows
  • Assess current systems (Sage ERP, Kyriba Treasury Management System) for functional fit, scalability, and integration
  • Identify pain points, inefficiencies, and reporting breakdowns
  • Determine whether existing systems can be optimised or require replacement
  • Develop clear business cases and recommendations for system changes or new solutions
  • Support vendor evaluation and selection if new systems are required
  • Act as PMO for finance systems transformation
  • Translate finance requirements into executable IT workstreams
  • Coordinate closely with IT teams based in Madagascar (and potentially Senegal)
  • Manage timelines, dependencies, risks, and stakeholders
  • Redesign management and financial reporting structures
  • Improve data quality, consistency, and ownership
  • Enable clearer visibility for leadership and investors
  • Drive transition decisively, challenging legacy ways of working
  • Support user adoption within the finance team based in Kenya
  • Document processes, system usage, and governance to ensure sustainability

Requirements

  • Proven delivery of finance systems transformation or finance PMO engagements
  • Experience within renewable energy, power generation, infrastructure, or capital-intensive asset businesses
  • Strong preference for prior work with Independent Power Producers (IPPs)
  • Experience operating in African or emerging market contexts
  • Finance systems assessment and target-state design
  • ERP implementation, optimisation, or replacement experience (accounting, close, controls)
  • Treasury management systems experience (cash, liquidity, FX, debt)
  • Management reporting and data structure design
  • Strong PMO discipline across business and IT
  • Fluent in English and French (essential)
  • Confident, pragmatic, and willing to challenge constructively
  • Strong stakeholder management across Finance leadership and technical IT teams
  • Able to operate with ambiguity and incomplete documentation
  • Comfortable working with distributed teams across multiple countries
  • Able to operate hands-on within a lean organisation (~70 employees)
  • Willing to engage closely with both strategic and operational details.
