About the role

  • Legal and Contracts Manager role ensuring leadership in contract management for major infrastructure projects at Aecon. Requires legal expertise and fluency in French and English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal leadership in negotiating, drafting, and interpreting contracts.
  • Advise project leadership on legal, commercial, and strategic issues.
  • Identify and analyze contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Actively participate in negotiations with clients, partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Support operational teams in day-to-day contract management.
  • Establish rigorous contract processes and ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Work closely with leadership, finance, procurement, and project management teams.
  • Help maintain a collaborative, ethical, and excellence-driven work environment.

Requirements

  • Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec (required).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial law and/or construction law.
  • Significant experience managing and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Excellent understanding of contractual mechanisms.
  • Bilingual (French and English) – spoken and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, multidisciplinary, and high-pressure environment.
