About the role
- Solution Engineer supporting the PDFCreator team with testing and development. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and assisting customer service efforts in Windows environments.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with developers: reproduce issues, track and evaluate bugs, test new features and bug fixes, and document results clearly.
- Maintain and optimize test and demo environments.
- Ensure PDFCreator runs smoothly across different Windows environments (e.g., Windows Server, RDS/VDI, hybrid setups) by configuring and troubleshooting.
- Act as a bridge between teams, clients, and customer service by joining technical calls, gathering requirements, providing guidance, and supporting complex cases.
Requirements
- Completed IT apprenticeship or a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in Windows system administration (Windows 10/11, Windows Server, RDSH, Active Directory, Group Policy, VPN).
- Experience with desktop applications, ideally including printer/driver solutions.
- Deep understanding of Windows printing in domain environments - including integration with non-Windows clients.
- Familiarity with testing practices (manual testing, issue reproduction, test case execution).
- Knowledge of scripting/automation (PowerShell preferred, Python would be a plus).
- Customer-oriented mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for process and business improvements.
- Good communication skills for client and cross-team collaboration.
- Proficient in English, with good German skills (sufficient for customer interaction).
