About the role
- Attorney providing legal services for veterans, preventing homelessness and addressing civil legal needs in Southern Maine. Appearing in court and conducting community outreach with veteran organizations.
Responsibilities
- Handle a wide variety of cases for Maine veterans
- Provide civil legal services ranging from triage to full legal representation
- Aid in the prevention of homelessness and health-harming social conditions
- Appear in court for representation in various cases
- Provide administrative advocacy on civil legal needs
- Conduct community engagement with veteran service organizations and VA staff
Requirements
- Admitted to the practice of law in Maine or eligible for licensure with the Maine Bar
- Ability to practice under MRCP 11 (c)
- Previous litigation experience preferred
- Willingness to relocate to Maine if currently not residing there
