About the role

  • Working supervisor role leading a commercial transportation underwriting team; build team from the ground up
  • Lead by example—balancing strategic oversight with hands-on underwriting responsibilities
  • Develop and continually improve the underwriting quality and marketing talents or staff support quality for an assigned group of Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters
  • Use techniques such as formal and informal referral situations, individual file reviews and re-underwriting projects to improve underwriting quality
  • Responsible for selection and training of new associates in the department
  • Perform supervisory activities for assigned group including performance management, salary administration, career development plans
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Underwriting Manager

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in commercial transportation underwriting
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to coach, mentor and develop others
  • Analytical and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance or related field (Preferred)
  • Completion of Associate in Underwriting program (Preferred)
  • CPCU designation (Preferred)
