About the role
- Design, deploy, and maintain robust network and system architectures to support scalable, secure, and high-performance operations.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network and system performance; instrument and monitor systems, networks, and APIs in deployment.
- Implement and enforce data privacy protocols; conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Work toward achieving corporate security certifications and create/maintain systems for internal and customer security, confidentiality and usage compliance.
- Safeguard intellectual property and source code by implementing access controls and security measures; develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Develop and manage secure authentication and authorization methods and integrate identity management with development teams.
- Manage and secure the data library and knowledge repository with versioning, access control, and backups.
- Provision highly-available systems that run service APIs; catalogue, meter, measure, monitor, and continuously improve distributed infrastructure.
- Apply C, shell, containers, linux/unix, python toolchains to maintain and extend provisioned APIs; program routine fixes and enhancements to existing service APIs.
- Maintain internal branches of GitHub tools, extend build toolchain, and support game engine developers as needed.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of Mac, linux, and unix network administration and system architecture.
- Strong expertise in firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security tools.
- Experience with data encryption, secure authentication protocols, and access control systems.
- Deep understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and system management.
- Apply C, shell, containers, linux/ unix/ gnu toolchain to automate monitoring and administration.
- Experience instrumenting and monitoring systems, networks, and APIs; monitoring tools and performance optimization techniques.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, debug and repair service APIs and underlying applications.
- Maintain internal branches of github tools and extend the build toolchain for large codebases.
- Ability to provision highly-available systems that run service APIs and manage authentication/authorization systems.
- Collaboration and communication skills to work with engineering, product, and compliance teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Mid-level experience (posting lists Minimum Experience: Mid-level).
- Ability to travel occasionally and as-needed to hosting facilities and offices in Edmonton, Alberta.
- Nice to have: Proficient in C/C++, strong knowledge of 3D math, algorithms, and data structures, familiarity with scripting for rapid prototyping, background in machine learning or procedural content generation, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field.
