About the role
- Software Engineer contributing to the control and data planes of Cloudflare’s custom network infrastructure. Working with Rust and Linux, enabling connections for various Cloudflare products.
Responsibilities
- Key technical contributor to the control and data planes of custom network infrastructure, operating systems, and APIs supporting our product
- Enable customers of Magic Transit, Magic WAN, and other Cloudflare products to connect with Cloudflare over private and high speed data center interconnects
- Build software on top of one of the largest edge networks in the world
- Partner with some of the best engineers and product managers to build robust, automated systems driving hundreds of gigs of customer traffic
Requirements
- 3 years of relevant Software Engineering or SRE experience
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Rust programming
- Experience building on top of Linux networking primitives - e.g. ip, tc, network namespaces, etc
- Familiarity with network engineering tools and protocols used in data center switching and routing - e.g. BGP, BFD, VXLAN, etc
- Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and backend systems, especially asynchronous architectures and those deployed onto serverless platforms like Cloudflare Workers
- Experience with running virtual machines on Linux
- Able to work across teams and level common, sustainable solutions
- Focus on clarity in written and verbal communication
