About the role

  • Ensure high availability and stability of area related applications
  • Investigate and resolve incidents and service requests within defined SLOs
  • Ensure proper incident escalations to senior engineers or vendors if needed
  • Monitor application health, logs, and interfaces to detect and prevent service disruptions proactively
  • Perform configuration tasks, application deployments, and scheduled maintenance
  • Support incident post-mortems, root cause analysis, and preventive action implementation
  • Document troubleshooting steps, known issues, and recovery procedures
  • Collaborate closely with the service desk, DevOps, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and engineering teams
  • Participate in testing and rollouts for patches, upgrades, and new feature releases
  • Work with and contribute to Java codebases under the guidance of Senior Software Engineers and Tech leads
  • Participate in code reviews and learn best practices in software development
  • Assist in automating operational tasks and improving deployment pipelines
  • Ensure adherence to compliance, data privacy, and security standards required in the banking sector
  • On-call responsibilities, scheduled on a rotating basis across both weekdays and weekends

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT application support or software engineering, preferably in the financial services sector
  • Skills in Java and Spring Boot are preferred, along with proficiency in tools like Jenkins and Git
  • Knowledge of financial services architecture and integrations (e.g., REST/SOAP APIs, message queues)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., NewRelic, Grafana, ELK)
  • Preferably, practical knowledge on cloud-based application management in AWS
  • Working knowledge of databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) would be considered an advantage
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, especially incident, problem, and change management
  • Strong analytical skills, service mindset, and ability to work in high-pressure environments
  • Availability for on-call rotations and incident support outside business hours
  • Fluent English is required in spoken and written communication due to working on the Pan-Baltic level.
