About the role
- Join the in-house legal team as a Staff or Senior Staff Attorney for Workers’ Compensation cases. Shape outcomes for clients across California while developing your legal career.
Responsibilities
- Manage your own caseload and gain practical experience through depositions and hearing before the Workers’ Compensation Boards in Van Nuys, Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oxnard.
- Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal outcomes for Hartford insureds.
- Provide timely and effective communication, legal advice, and support to clients.
- Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients.
- Conduct extensive research and developing well-reasoned legal strategies.
- Facilitate the prompt and efficient resolution of cases.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of legal practice experience handling complex Workers’ Compensation cases.
- JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the state of California
- Trial experience is preferred.
- Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
- Lexis Nexis experience is a plus!
- Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal practice experience handling complex/life pension Workers’ Compensation cases for Senior Staff Attorney candidates.
