About the role

  • Join the in-house legal team as a Staff or Senior Staff Attorney for Workers’ Compensation cases. Shape outcomes for clients across California while developing your legal career.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your own caseload and gain practical experience through depositions and hearing before the Workers’ Compensation Boards in Van Nuys, Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oxnard.
  • Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal outcomes for Hartford insureds.
  • Provide timely and effective communication, legal advice, and support to clients.
  • Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients.
  • Conduct extensive research and developing well-reasoned legal strategies.
  • Facilitate the prompt and efficient resolution of cases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of legal practice experience handling complex Workers’ Compensation cases.
  • JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the state of California
  • Trial experience is preferred.
  • Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Lexis Nexis experience is a plus!
  • Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal practice experience handling complex/life pension Workers’ Compensation cases for Senior Staff Attorney candidates.
