Lead the Great Britain Prompt Trading team at ESB, focusing on optimizing trading positions and delivering financial targets in electricity and gas markets.
About the role
- Represent the O&M interests of ESB as the asset owner of operational renewable sites.
- Manage site safety, site operations and control of access to Renewable O&M Generation assets.
- Ensure safety and environmental obligations are met for efficient operation of plant, including local onsite operation of plant and electrical switching duties as required.
- Manage site preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance through the ESB Maintenance management system.
- Implement and maintain plant procedures, site policies and safety programs.
- Provide a timely site response capability for remotely monitored sites and participate in an on-call rota.
- Manage service providers and contractors onsite including performing inductions and setting to work as required.
- Manage, administer, and ensure compliance with the ESB Safety Rules in operation.
- Perform role of Work Controller (WC) and Safety from the System Coordinator (SSC) in accordance with ESB Safe System of Work after training, assessment, and approval.
- Initially responsible for Castlepook Wind Farm (North Cork), Cappawhite Wind Farm (Tipperary) and Woodhouse Wind Farm (Waterford); act as backup for other southern region sites.
- Travel to other renewable sites and irregular travel to ESB Head Office in Dublin.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in operation and maintenance of generation plant and/or wind farms.
- Technical or Engineering Qualification (preferably Electrical/Mechanical) or equivalent experience with plant operations or maintenance.
- Assertive with excellent communication skills and ability to work on own initiative and develop and improve procedures.
- Strong safety and risk management focus.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills.
- Capability to work at heights.
- Working knowledge of computerized control systems.
- Willingness to work flexible hours (office and on site) to accommodate site mobilization and operational requirements.
- Participate in an on-call rota and respond to alarms and events during normal and outside normal working hours.
- Based and living within reasonable proximity of southern region sites (no more than 90 minutes commute).
- Experience of isolating plant and equipment under safety rules (desirable).
- CMMS experience (desirable).
- Experience of electrical switching/isolating plant and equipment under safety rules (desirable).
- Understanding of the commercial side of the generation business (desirable).
- Experience in front line maintenance activities (desirable).
- Ability to perform Work Controller (WC) and Safety from the System Coordinator (SSC) roles after training and approval.
