Ensuring the successful delivery of traffic/transportation engineering projects, including scheduling, budgeting, proposal writing, client communication, and compliance with corporate quality control processes.
Leveraging your technical expertise in traffic/transportation engineering to provide clients with practical and effective solutions in the areas of transportation network analysis, multi-modal road safety, transportation impact assessments, active transportation, signal timing, modeling, and parking.
Leading and supporting conceptual and functional design of transportation facilities such as transit exchanges, protected bicycle lanes, multi-use paths, intersections, and crosswalks.
Collaborating with WATT team members by assisting other project managers, conducting peer-reviews, and mentoring junior staff.
Representing WATT in client, community, council meetings and other public engagement activities, effectively communicating technical information.
Writing clear and concise documentation for projects, including technical letters, memos, and reports.
Supporting business development efforts by pursuing opportunities with past, current, and prospective clients and contributing to proposal preparation.
Maintaining technical competency in transportation engineering and project delivery through active participation in ITE, TAC, or other professional organizations.
Leading by example by working alongside others on our team to continuously improve our transportation practice and the value we deliver to our clients and communities.
Requirements
A registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or the ability to become a P.Eng. within three (3) months of accepting the position.
Limited license engineers (P.L. Eng.) with appropriate experience will also be considered.
At least five (5+) or more years of traffic/transportation engineering experience.
Project management/leadership skills and ability to support a growing and diverse practice.
Technical skills to lead and support transportation master plans, active transportation planning and design, traffic operations and site analysis, traffic management plans for construction zones, signal timing, safety audits, and traffic modeling.
Experience using capacity analysis and microsimulation software such as Synchro/SimTraffic required.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance when needed.
PTOE or RSP certification is considered an asset.
Working knowledge of key technical manuals from TAC, ITE, NACTO, and Provincial Manuals.
A valid AB Class 5 or equivalent Drivers’ License is required.
