About the role
- Define the vision and strategy for FAR.AI's major conferences and workshops
- Identify and pitch new event ideas to catalyze progress in AI safety
- Design agendas and curate speakers; set attendee metrics and run application/selection processes
- Oversee stakeholder management across speakers, program committees, funders, and partners
- Own on-site speaker, content, and agenda flow during events; make real-time calls on substitutions/adjustments
- Support post-event communications and reports to extend event outcomes
- Connect events to FAR.AI’s broader field-building efforts (FAR.Labs, communications, research, grant-making)
- Report to Head of Programs with a dotted reporting line to the CEO
Requirements
- Substantial experience working alongside technical researchers or direct research experience (PhD/postdoc or equivalent) in a STEM field
- Proven ability to work with high-status/technical stakeholders and manage complex relationships
- Ability to identify impactful AI safety topics and conversations (content judgment)
- Some experience managing people or teams (including voluntary mentoring or leading cross-functional projects)
- Strong motivation to contribute to AI safety
- Ability to work with significant overlap with PST timezone
- Willingness to support occasional evening/weekend events
- Willingness to travel for events (approximately one trip per month)

- $115,000 – $180,000 per year (salary range)
