Senior Financial Analyst ensuring accuracy in operational accounting at Hudbay Minerals. Involves monthly processing and budgeting, collaboration, and compliance in finance.
Responsibilities
Undertakes month-end processing for assigned operational areas (including services and admin areas)
Prepares journal entries consisting of both routine and irregular adjustments
Records, reviews and explains cost variances
Investigates and corrects errors
Prepares analysis in readable formats including waterfalls
Support the team to perform financial analysis and prepare scenario models requested by operating areas
Support Capital Analyst in AFE submissions and aids operational areas with AFE preparation when requested
Review of Purchase requisitions (PR) to ensure correct costing
Review of vendor master data for SOX compliance
Works with supervisors to resolve issues brought forward by operating areas that require unique expertise in this field
Prepare the forecasts for operational areas as required
Submits forecast to operational manager for review and adjustments
Support the operations team in preparation of yearly operating budgets for his/her areas
Budget process consists of inputting preliminary data, variance analysis and making revisions
Ensure all costs are clear after budgets/forecasts are updated
Ensures capital budget prepared by capital analyst accurately reflects the budget for his/her areas
Execution of operationally effective internal controls over financial reporting applicable to the BCBU accounting function
Accountable for ensuring that the appropriate approvals are received and documented for SOx prior to making changes within Maximo, GP and SAP
Ensures SOx documentation is maintained and is available to auditors
Take all necessary actions to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, legislation, regulations, policies, work standards, and governance
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce or Business Administration Diploma with a concentration in Finance or Accounting
Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting/finance business function
Experience in a complex accounting environment in a medium to large public corporation
Experience working in mining, oil and gas or construction is an asset
Strong computer software aptitude and experience using an ERP or accounting software as well as advanced MS Office excel skills
Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and have access to personal vehicle
