About the role

  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans for IGF projects, reports, and events, including the AGM
  • Serve as communications advisor to IGF senior staff, providing guidance on messaging and outreach
  • Supervise junior communications staff, set objectives, and conduct performance reviews
  • Ensure brand coherence and compliance across all IGF materials and platforms
  • Produce and edit high-quality written and digital content for expert and non-expert audiences (press releases, articles, newsletters, social media posts, videos, infographics)
  • Maintain and update IGF webpages (WordPress/Drupal), ensuring content is timely and accurate
  • Oversee development of visual and multimedia products, coordinating with consultants and IISD’s design team
  • Support IGF staff with media training and social media coaching
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with journalists and influencers; draft and disseminate press releases, media briefings, and pitches
  • Ensure IGF social media channels are timely and report on reach and performance
  • Organize and promote webinars, workshops, and the IGF AGM, including onsite communications and post-event follow-up
  • Use analytics tools (Google Analytics, Agility PR, social platform insights) to monitor and report on performance
  • Develop donor and impact reports demonstrating IGF achievements and outcomes
  • Provide support on emerging needs as directed by the IGF Director and the Economic Law and Policy Senior Communications Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, public policy, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of professional experience in communications, journalism, or public relations (ideally related to international policy or sustainable development)
  • Bilingual English/French; excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages
  • Spanish considered an asset
  • Proven experience managing communications for international, member-based, or multilateral organizations
  • Strong experience with digital platforms, including content management systems (WordPress or Drupal), analytics tools (Google Analytics, Agility PR), and social media management
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and deliver communications strategies around large international events (e.g., AGM)
  • Experience supervising or managing junior staff
  • Strong writing and editing skills; experience producing press releases, articles, newsletters, social media posts, videos, and infographics
  • Familiarity with member-based organizations or multilateral processes
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to juggle multiple priorities under tight timelines
  • Familiarity with issues related to mining, natural resources, or sustainable development is an asset
  • Ability to work in or be based in Canada, or in specified remote locations (Germany, Portugal, United Kingdom) and meet legal work eligibility requirements where applicable
