About the role

  • Create and complete bids/estimations/quotations based on customer specifications to achieve competitiveness and margin
  • Support Business Development and Country Sales to develop client design and specifications
  • Develop specifications and designs and create budget proposals
  • Evaluate client enquiry documentation and interpret requirements and commercial terms
  • Formulate competitive bids considering product mix and technical/commercial considerations
  • Manage preparation of technical, financial, cash flow and operational delivery aspects of bids
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities in contract agreements and carry out quantitative risk analysis
  • Identify and evaluate potential vendors and supplier offers in collaboration with Supply Chain Management
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships and provide technical support during sales meetings
  • Manage and drive the Bid Team to deliver quality proposals on time and to budget
  • Liaise closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Project Management, Planning, Engineering and Commercial functions
  • Assist implementation and promotion of Hitachi policies and obtain governance approvals (risk review)
  • Interface with client teams on technical, commercial, contract administration and negotiate contracts
  • Provide ongoing pre- and post-tender support, chairing meetings, responding to queries and preparing presentations

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Bid/Tendering Management, Project Engineering, Business Development & Sales
  • Recognised engineering qualification minimum HNC
  • Industry sector knowledge in HV (400kV–132kV) and MV (66kV-11kV)
  • Experience in Industrial, Datacentre, Renewables, Power Quality and substation design
  • Desirable: Experience within the energy sector - Transmission & Distribution
  • Experience of contract terms and conditions (NEC3/4, FIDIC, etc.)
  • Team leader experience – coaching & developing others
  • Ability to develop specifications/design solutions with clients
  • Ability to evaluate supplier offers and identify potential vendors
  • Ability to travel to UK sites
  • Right to work in the UK (employer unable to provide visa support)
