About the role

  • Support suicide prevention, resilience, and risk reduction initiatives focused on military populations, including National Guard units
  • Leverage evidence-based practices (e.g., Army Suicide Prevention Program ACE model; National Guard’s Warrior Resilience and Fitness Division) to deliver high-impact training and support
  • Deliver training, curriculum development, and program implementation across a multi-state geographic area (California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado/Denver, New Mexico, Hawaii)
  • Develop and evaluate curricula and training program effectiveness; incorporate feedback for continuous improvement
  • Coordinate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, subject matter experts, program evaluators, military leaders, and community organizations
  • Track data, report metrics, and use Microsoft Excel for metric development and reporting
  • Organize work, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and manage variable schedules including many weekends
  • Travel to state units or training sites as required and brief/instruct audiences at multiple levels including executive leadership
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Regional Prevention Specialist team to share expertise and ensure comprehensive program coverage

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field; Master’s degree preferred but not required if compensated by extensive relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in suicide prevention training, with a focus on program delivery or implementation
  • 10+ years of direct military experience, preferably with the National Guard (for Subject Matter Expert track)
  • Experience working with or supporting National Guard units in resilience or mental health programs
  • Expertise in delivering suicide prevention training, such as the Army’s ACE (Ask, Care, Escort) model or similar frameworks
  • Ability to translate military-specific mental health challenges into effective training and intervention strategies
  • Proficiency in collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including military personnel, civilians, and community organizations
  • Strong communication skills for briefing and training diverse audiences, including military leaders
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, instructional design, or a related field for Curriculum Development Expert; Master’s preferred but can be substituted with extensive experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in curriculum development and instructional design, preferably for adult learners
  • Experience designing training programs related to suicide prevention, resilience, or mental health
  • Expertise in developing evidence-based, engaging curricula and evaluating training program effectiveness
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and modern instructional design methodologies
  • Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited school and state licensure to independently practice social work at the master’s level for Prevention Specialist track
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-licensure clinical experience or related field and minimum five years’ experience in suicide prevention, resilience, or risk reduction programs (Prevention Specialist)
  • Teaching credentials preferred; experience instructing and briefing executive-level audiences
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and metric development; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be proficient in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating suicide prevention and resilience training programs
  • Ability to work variable schedule as duties require, including many weekends when state units are conducting training
  • Willingness to travel to state units or training sites across the geographic area of assignment
  • Valid driver’s license (application asks) and authorization to work in the United States (application asks)
