Regional Manager overseeing commercial real estate lending, originating and underwriting loans for credit unions. Collaborating closely with stakeholders to develop and promote lending programs in Canada.
Responsibilities
Work closely with credit unions to originate and underwrite new commercial real estate loans ($5M–$20M).
Manage day-to-day delivery of lending services to credit unions and their members.
Support business development initiatives and growth opportunities for credit unions.
Collaborate with the Commercial Real Estate Lending Team to plan, develop, and implement lending programs and services for member credit unions, other financial institutions, affiliated organizations, and business partners.
Coordinate financial analysis and prepare presentation materials for new loan requests, amendments, and annual reviews.
Maintain designated loan portfolios, ensuring all required information (e.g., financial statements, rent rolls) is collected, reviewed, and up to date.
Provide site visit reports and other relevant information to support efficient underwriting.
Offer guidance and support to credit officers, credit union lenders, and senior management in credit-granting decisions and loan portfolio management.
Assist credit unions in portfolio growth and, when appropriate, attend meetings with members to develop credit solutions for new relationships.
Support Directors with loans across the region and special projects as needed.
Develop marketing initiatives and materials to promote lending products to member credit unions.
Help establish and maintain strategic relationships with partners and financial institutions to expand commercial and mortgage capabilities for credit unions.
Support the development and implementation of new lending products and recommend policy changes as needed.
Manage watch list accounts and ensure accurate reporting.
Ensure thorough and accurate analysis and preparation of recommendations for senior management at Central and credit unions.
Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
College or university degree in finance or a related field (business administration, accounting, economics, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
3–5 years of commercial lending experience, with a focus on real estate transactions, including construction financing and term lending.
Proven ability to source new business and negotiate credit facilities within the risk and pricing parameters of Central and the credit unions.
Strong analytical skills to gather and review information required for underwriting commercial credits and presenting for approval.
Solid understanding of underwriting supporting documents, including financial statements, appraisals, environmental reports, geotechnical assessments, property condition reports, and project monitoring reports.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Strong relationship management skills, with experience interacting with credit union CEOs, commercial lenders, borrowers, and senior management.
Ability to act with maturity, tact, and diplomacy.
Self-starter who can work independently or as part of a team, depending on the situation.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions for specific business needs and challenges.
