About the role

  • Program Manager overseeing daily operations of Morivivi Safe Dwelling in New York. Responsible for program compliance, staff supervision, and client support services.

Responsibilities

  • The Program Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations of the program and the safe dwellings.
  • Act as VIP’s primary coordinator to assure that all efforts are fully met and exceed contractual obligations (programmatic and administrative).
  • Direct the day-to-day activities of risk management, safety/security, maintenance and client move-in/turn-over.
  • Ensure 24/7 services to all program participants and may also be called upon for late night and weekend assistance.
  • Manage all contracts to ensure highest degree of program performance and ensure compliance with all state and local laws, policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Create and maintain accurate and comprehensive data including statistical information for reporting purposes as determined by VIP and agency funders; including data on delivery of services and occupancy rates.
  • Supervise staff; facilitate case conferences and trainings to ensure excellent standards and efficiency in the delivery of services to clients.
  • Supervise the development and implementation of supportive programs for victims/survivors of domestic violence.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans for the program as needed.
  • Develop a network of emergency services and updated staff schedules to ensure efficient delivery of services and 24 hour coverage.
  • Complete regular inspections of all safe dwellings, including fire inspections, and ensure maintenance (emergency and routine repairs, etc.) of all sites.
  • Engage, contract, supervise and approve invoices and expenditures for all goods/services required to maintain facility and support services.
  • Coordinate bids from vendors for necessary property improvements.
  • Continually update operations manual for the program.
  • Maintain complete and accurate property files and records.
  • Responsible for the supervision of all property safety/security measures.
  • Follow-up after program audits or evaluations to improve program performance.
  • Monitor the program’s effectiveness in reaching the goals of permanent housing, securing clients’ employment and establishing family stability.
  • Analyze, develop and implement procedures and policies to ensure quality service provision.
  • Ensure compliance with all child welfare mandated reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Commitment to VIP’s mission, vision and values
  • Master’s degree in social work, human services or comparable degrees; License preferred
  • A minimum of two years of experience managing, coordinating and developing programs including directly supervising direct, social workers, case managers and/or direct service staff.
  • Must be fully bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Experience working with shelters and/or safe dwellings, Department of Homelessness (DHS), Human Resources Administration (HRA) contracts and TANF eligibility preferred.
  • Must have the ability to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machine, fax machine, phone systems, etc. with strong internet and software skills; incl. Microsoft Office and client database.
  • Strong knowledge of the individual, social and political effects of domestic violence on homelessness and economic sustainability.
  • Deep commitment to working with multicultural and diverse populations with a clear understanding/practice of cultural humility.
  • Must be sensitive, non-judgmental and empathic towards people experiencing domestic violence.
  • Capacity to de-escalate and manage crisis situations while keeping composure.
  • Ability to make tough decisions impacting individual families and community of program participants with compassion and care.
  • Ability to lead a high performing team while creating a culture of community care for one another and building trust among staff.
  • Commitment to transparency and honestly at all levels of program implementation.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and confidence with task delegation and direction.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage complex documentation and procedures.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and documenting skills required; incl. public speaking skills.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication with appropriate tone
  • Flexible schedule is required to meet clients’ needs and engage in community outreach activities (i.e., on-call; nights; weekends).
